ANNOUNCEMENTS 1/19/18

The Wildcat boys bowling team lost to Olentangy Orange 2054 to 1907 Thursday afternoon.  With the loss, the boys are now 5-3 this season (2-3 in the OCC Buckeye).  The ‘Cats were led by match medalist junior Colton R. (418) and junior Tanner V. (324).  The boys will be in action again next Tuesday against Beechcroft at the Palace. 

The Westerville South girls bowling team improved to 5-3 on the season (3-2 in the OCC Buckeye with a 1695 to 1628 victory over host Olentangy Orange.  The girls were led by match medalist Maggie V. (311) and junior Emily G. (303) and senior Taylor K. (303).  The team’s next match will be Tuesday against Beechcroft at the Palace. 

Boys Lacrosse will be having a parent and player meeting on Wednesday January 24th at 7pm in the Istudio, if you are thinking about playing this season please be in attendance"  

Attention all students and staff, due to popular demand, the sophomore class will be selling the Windbreakers again until January 26. Remember these are super insulated, water-resistant, and they have pockets and a hood! They are $40. Order forms are available on Ms. Sefton's door for room 116. She her or the sophomore officers if you have questions or would like to see one.  

Attention, all students, the Scribe wants YOUR opinion! The February forum question for The Scribe is “Do you approve of the trend of replacing minimum wage jobs with robots? Why or why not?”  For the chance to have your response featured in the February issue of The Scribe, scan the QR code on one of the flyers around the school or follow the link provided and submit a response. 

Are you interested in doing tech for the Black History Month Assembly? Please come to a brief meeting this Friday after school in the choir room. 

The next Red Cross Blood Drive will take place on Monday, January 22nd. Please sign up in the lunchroom if you would like to donate. 

Cats for Unity will be celebrating mental health awareness this month and hosting a forum on Jan 24. Everyone is welcome to come out. Please see Noelle or Mr. Porter if you have questions. 

Do you know any GEMs (Great Educator Mentors) at Westerville South?  GEMs can be anyone from an outstanding teacher to that amazing support staff that makes a day brighter to a building volunteer that simply goes above and beyond to help our South's students thrive.  GEM nominations are now open.  Just visit the Westerville Parent Council website at http://westervilleparentcouncil.com to download the nomination form to nominate your WSHS GEM or grab a form from the office.  Nominations are due to the office no later than the end of the school day on Friday, February 9.

The Westerville South girls bowling team lost to Westerville Central 2142 to 1792 Wednesday afternoon.  The girls are now have a record of 4-3 (2-2 in the OCC Buckeye).  Leading the way for the Lady Cats were senior Taylor K. (370) and junior Maggie V. (342).  The match medalist was Westerville Central’s Kirsten M. (434).  The ladies will return to action Thursday at Capri Lanes against Olentangy Orange. 

On Wednesday, the Wildcat boys bowling team was beaten by the Warhawks of Westerville Central 2675 to 2320.  With the defeat, the Cats are now 5-2 this season (2-2 in the OCC Buckeye). The boys were led by junior Cameron V. (459) and junior Colton R. (415).  Match medalist was Central’s Devon R. (525).  The team will face off against Olentangy Orange Thursday afternoon at Capri lanes. 

Attention Seniors: T-shirt order forms are being passed out in homerooms starting today! If you don't receive an order form by tomorrow, check in room 203 for extra copies. Orders are due by Friday, January 26th

Amnesty International will be meeting in room 118 today after school to discuss our project this year to help Gracehaven. All are welcome! 

Are you interested in coding, app or web development, game design, robotics, or digital media? If so, check out information about an opportunity being offered by the Computing Career Corps. Classes are scheduled to start in late January. Students who qualify and complete the course work will receive a free laptop, a $100 voucher for a summer work wardrobe, and will be eligible to apply for summer work in a tech-related field.
