WSHS ANNOUNCEMENTS    10/22/18

This is just a reminder that there will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 30th at 2:20pm in the I-Studio for all students planning on trying out for the Bowling Team.  Please plan on attending if you are interested in bowling. 

Attention Student Drivers.  Just a reminder that as of Monday, October 15, 2018, students who have received three or more parking tickets are subject to having their vehicle towed if you park without a permit, or are parking in the wrong lot.  A car that is towed will be towed at the owner's expense.   Once a car has been placed on the tow list, it will remain there and will be towed upon future offenses. 

Want to travel to Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and London? Make sure to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 24th at 7:00 pm in room 203 to be eligible for a $200 discount. Space is limited! RSVP for the meeting at Eventbrite: https://rsvp.eftours.com/fdnr7v7 

Reminder to Seniors: You must request your transcript through your Naviance account. We recommend requesting this at least 2 weeks before the deadline. Find more information about College Apps and Naviance on the Guidance Website. 

Seniors: the counseling office will be open to students needing assistance with college applications, Naviance, FAFSA, etc. on October 24th from 7:30am-3pm. No appointment needed; report during your study hall, lunch, and/or after school. 

Attention Seniors:  Jostens will return to Westerville South HS on Thursday, October 25th during the lunch periods to collect senior graduation orders including Cap & gown and announcement packages.

Please remember to bring in your order form and payment. Any senior who orders a senior class ring or a Wildcat package will receive your cap & gown unit FREE! Any question please call 1-800-JOSTENS.

The South Marching Band had yet another successful weekend, performing in two competitions: The Shawnee Band O Rama in Springfield, and the Miamisburg Invitational in Miamisburg.  At Shawnee, the band received an overall rating of Superior, 2nd Overall in Music, and earning a fourth overall score (out of 17 groups), as well as earning a Best Overall Percussion Award.  At Miamisburg the band set their season high MSBA score with a score of 65.70, earning 7th place out of 22 bands. 

November is National Novel Writing Month!  If you are interested in writing a novel and hanging out with other people who love to write, stop by an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 24th in Mrs. Baker's room at 2:15

Boys Varsity Soccer falls 0-1 to Worthington Kilbourne in Sectional final on Saturday. Thank you Seniors for the past 4 years. Best of Luck to each of you on the next chapter! 

South football lost at home to rival Westerville Central 35-23.  Peter P passed for 133 yards and a touchdown and Ta’ve Falls rushed for 163 yards and a score to lead South.

Hey, are you a minority student who takes higher level classes, is interested in taking higher level classes, or is interested in seeking advice or help with your classes? Well, then the Minority Student Mentoring program is perfect for you! Stop by the iStudio and grab a sign-up sheet outside of the IB office. The sign-up sheets will be due October 26. If you have any more questions feel free to contact the student coordinator whose information is on the sign-up sheets. An informational meeting to pair mentors and students will occur next week. Powderpuff is rapidly approaching! Get your forms and money in to Ms. Sefton in Rm. 116 or Ms. Amanda in the athletic office by the end of the day this Thursday! 

Wildcat Reminder: Take PRIDE in your SCHOOL.  Clean Up after yourselves in the Commons during breakfast and lunch.  Trash is not to be left on the tables.  

Students, if you have lost your ID you can purchase a new one in the iStudio for $5 before or after school. Payment, in cash only, is required before the ID can made. 

9th GRADE PARENTS: Is your student interested in Engineering? Parents are invited to a special information session (10/23 at 6:30 pm) to learn more about the Engineering Technology program at the Delaware Area Career Center. Students in Engineering Technology attend for half of their school day during 10th, 11th, & 12th grade. Interested freshman apply this winter. DACC’s program offers hands-on learning for the essentials of engineering: design, modeling, electronics, robotics and more.  Seating is limited. Westerville South Cross Country teams ran at the OCC Buckeye Division Saturday. Of the 39 total runners toeing the start line,  24 set new personal records, 11 set a season best. Ellie Bouton led the way for the girls varsity team finishing in 13th and 2nd team All OCC.  Cole Koehler led the way for the boys varsity finishing 11th and 2nd team All OCC. Congratulations to all!

The lady wildcats soccer team moves on to the sectional finals after their first tournament win against Chillicothe last night 4-0. Deja Edwards had 4 goals and Christina Himes had an assist. Goalie Jenna Villacres had three saves. The lady wildcats play again Thursday at Olentangy Orange 7:00pm.

The Wildcats host Westerville Central this week in a rare THURSDAY night game.  Pre-sale tickets will be available during all lunch periods Thursday in the commons.  Avoid the lines and buy early.  Students $5.00  Adults $7.00. 

South won Friday’s away rivalry game against North 23-13.  Peter P threw for 165 yards and a score and Ta’ve F ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns.  Mathew B sealed the victory with a 31-yard 4rth quarter field goal. 

 

Boys Soccer JVA Grey tied 1-1 on Saturday against Westerville North. Goal: Ian T.; Saves: Tyler E. 8  Varsity start tournament game next Saturday at 7pm

Attendance - If your student is ill, will be late for school, needs to leave early, or you have questions about attendance issues please call directly:  614-797-6047.
 
Please Note: As allowable by state law, students with outstanding fees may not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities including field trips, field day, senior class activities, dances, and athletics.  Seniors, all fees must be paid in order to receive your high school diploma.
