Integrated Pest Management

This program is part of the district's Environmental Management Plan.

In 2004 the Westerville City Schools District was the first district in the state of Ohio to adopt the Monroe Model of  Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. This adoption made the district the state model for school district IPM programs.

What is Integrated Pest Management

The National IPM Roadmap definition of IPM, updated in 2018:

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a sustainable, science-based, decision-making process that combines biological, cultural, physical and chemical tools to identify, manage and reduce risk from pests and pest management tools and strategies in a way that minimizes overall economic, health and environmental risks.
