High School Student COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Update

Please see the following reminders and additional information regarding upcoming Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) COVID-19 vaccination clinics. First dose clinics will be on April 9 and April 12; second dose clinics will be on April 30 and May 3. Clinics will be hosted during the school day at Westerville Central High School, 7118 Mount Royal Ave.

  • A completed and signed consent form must be returned to the main office of your child’s school no later than 3 p.m. on April 7.
    • Consent forms must be completed by a parent/legal guardian for each child in order to place their name(s) on the vaccination schedule.
    • NCH confirmed that we will be receiving a total of 1,000 Pfizer vaccines, which means there will be approximately 333 vaccinations allocated per high school on a first-come, first-served basis. If not all vaccines are accounted for at one or more schools, they will be equally distributed to students on other schools’ wait lists.
    • Children must be at least 16 years of age by the date of the clinic to be vaccinated.
  • Students receiving their instruction through the Westerville Virtual Academy (WVA), the Academic Enrichment Center (AEC), or a Career Center program are eligible for the vaccination clinic.
    • The district will be able to transport students receiving daily, in-person instruction to and from their home school so they may participate in the clinic.
    • Families of WVA and Career Center students confirmed to be receiving the vaccine will be responsible for transportation as staffing limitations prevent the district from providing this expanded service.
    • AEC students will be able to access clinic transportation services at Westerville South.
  • Students participating in the first vaccination clinic will be scheduled and guaranteed to receive their second dose during a follow-up clinic, again through NCH, three weeks later on Friday, April 30 and Monday, May 3.
    • Students should make sure they have their school-issued identification card with them when checking into the clinic.
    • Students will not be asked for health insurance information as it is not required for your child to receive the vaccine.
  • A vaccine card will be created for each student upon receiving their first dose.
    • These cards will be maintained at school until students receive their second dose, at which time students will be permitted to take their card with them.

Please continue to watch your email as we will share any additional information with families as it becomes available.
