The Haunted Gym has become a much-anticipated tradition at Mark Twain Elementary School. Each year magnet school students explore Alum Creek up close and personal, thanks to a partnership with MAD Scientist & Associates. The eighth annual Westerville Central Band Classic was held on October 2 in Warhawk Stadium, where 14 schools performed. Robert Frost Principal Sarah Berka promised her pupils that she would sit in a dunk tank if they raised $10,000 during the school walk-a-thon. An anti-tobacco presentation at Westerville Central featured top-skaters, BMXer’s and inline skaters performing on a half pipe. Whittier Principal Kim Woosley kissed CHA CHA the guinea pig as part of a challenge after pupils at her school raised $7,000 during their walk-a-thon. Wilder Elementary families packed the school on October 14, when they gathered for the 21st annual Oktoberfest celebration which featured games and a book fair. At Huber Ridge Elementary and other schools throughout the district, students and teachers are taking advantage of new learning tools like the Smart Board. Students high-fived Cherrington Elementary Principal Andy Heck during the school’s fall fundraiser walk-a-thon. Robert Frost second graders participated in hands-on activities during an assembly called “Wise About Eyes Exhibits-To-Go.
