A Blendon 8th grade student and Dr. Betty Anderson discuss the finished product.
This winter, science teachers Angie Crego, Blendon Middle School, and John McCoy, Walnut Springs Middle School, invited Professor Betty L. Anderson to work with their advanced science classes. Dr. Anderson is the Associate Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in Dreese Laboratory at The Ohio State University. She led 8th grade students through a STEM activity. The challenge was to build a working speaker from paper, wire and a magnet, and then connect it to an mp3 player.
Science concepts came to life through this hands-on, minds-on activity and students enjoyed taking their finished products home to uses with their electronic devices.
