Two WNHS students win Voices of Hope virtual poetry slam competition

Westerville North High School freshman Sage Hyde and sophomore Jeffrey Siefker won the Voices of Hope virtual poetry slam and met with Twenty-One Pilots’ drummer Josh Dun and his wife, actress Debby Ryan at Asterisk Supper Club on Saturday.

As part of the Voices of Hope poetry slam, Westerville high school students were invited to submit poems reflecting hope. Hyde’s poem was titled “Hope is Serenity in a World of Fire” while Siefker’s poem was called “The Specter of Hope.”

The event, which is sponsored by the Westerville Education Challenge, the Arts Council of Westerville and Secret Midnight Press, was hosted by authors and poets, Ashley Dun and Jesse Cale

In addition to meeting Dun and Ryan, the winners also received prizes from the Secret Midnight Press.
