Two Westerville middle school students competed in the Ohio State MathCounts competition on March 11 at Columbus State Community College.

Mason Wu, an eighth-grader at Blendon, placed 29th while Anna McCracken, a seventh-grader at Walnut Springs, placed 43rd in the competition that featured 162 competitors across Ohio.

The competition is sponsored by the Franklin County Chapter of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE). The MathCounts program is supported by both middle schools and the Math and Gifted Education departments.

The MathCounts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels in order to build confidence and improve attitudes towards math and problem-solving.
