Lauren Orth, an athletic trainer at Westerville South High School, received the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Linda Weber Daniel Outstanding Mentor Award during the association’s annual meeting earlier this month.
Bill “Doc” Kulju, a retired WSHS educator and athletic trainer who serves as an OATA leader, notified Orth of her award:
“This award is the second highest, behind the Hall of Fame, that our association offers because it recognizes an individual that is a role model, counselor, tutor and guide. They love our profession, possess quality character, they are kind, caring, compassionate and someone who looks for teaching opportunities… because of the things listed above, their mentoring helps others see the value, dignity, and importance of our profession.”
“I have seen all of these things in you, Lauren, with your interaction with the student athletes, and coaches at WSHS,” Kulju wrote.
Orth has been an athletic trainer for 18 years — seven of which have been at WSHS.She lives in Westerville with her husband Cort and daughter Colette.
