The Office of Communications and Technology Services, under the direction of the Department of Administrative Services, keeps internal and external publics informed about Westerville City Schools' students, staff, programs and initiatives. The department also manages all aspects of the use and integration of technology in both the academic and operational functions of the district.

The goals of the district's communications initiatives are to promote Westerville Schools as a great place to learn and a great place to live, to enhance the district’s involvement and partnership with the community, and to strengthen the image of the district among its constitutents. To accomplish these goals, the office strives to provide positive, accurate information to as many people as possible through the most appropriate communication channels available.

The media play an important role in helping the district communicate with its community and the office serves as the first point of contact for reporters seeking information for a story. The office distributes a weekly media advisory of events, activities and accomplishments as a strategy to secure media coverage of district activities and accomplishments. Anyone can receive an e-mail containing these announcements and releases by clicking on the electronic communications link and subscribing.

The office is also responsible for managing the district website, intranet site and social media initiatives, as well as creating publications such as the annual report/calendar, the Communiqué employee newsletter, the Board Report board meeting summary, and other special purpose materials.

Office staff members also represent the district on various community committees and at various community events, develop and implement communications and marketing plans for district initiatives, manage content of the district’s website, provide communication counsel to district leadership, and promote the great things happening in Westerville Schools through media advisories and releases, photography services, speeches, fact sheets and talking points.

The office also strives to effectively research, recommend and integrate the use of technology in all aspects of the academic program and district operations. The office is responsible for all information technology equipment, operations, support and maintenance within the district. This includes all servers, desktop computers, laptops, printers, infrastructure (such as routers, switches, and the Wide Area Network), e-mail and testing and deploying various software programs used throughout the district.

The office also supports other district offices through a series of services that include integrating computer systems and negotiating/managing information technology related contracts.
