Students from Otterbein University and the Westerville City Schools Best of Both Worlds program joined forces to host the Mark Twain Elementary Health and Activity Night on Wednesday evening, April 18. A number of interactive activities were offered, all of which were designed to educate children and adults about health topics. Special focus was placed on childhood obesity and childhood hunger. Books were collected to raise money for ShareBacAPac, a weekend feeding program for Westerville students with nutritional deficiencies. Activity stations included first aid instruction, yoga, musical chairs, stretching, Zumba, scarf juggling, tug of war, jump rope, soccer, an obstacle course, parachute, fitness “skillastics,” a corn hole toss, disc golf, and cup stacking. Healthy snacks were provided by Youth Service America and a State Farm Global Youth Service Day grant. Sodexo also sponsored the event.
