October 7 started as a normal day for Whittier Elementary School Principal A.J. Hoffman, but ended with his students turning him into an ice cream sundae. Above: A student puts some cherries on top, much to the delight of his classmates.
Students at Whittier Elementary School raised nearly $13,000 during their recent Walk-A-Thon. The money will be used to fund special activities. As a reward for their stellar efforts, Principal A.J. Hoffman said they could turn him into an ice cream sundae. Children who raised $100 or more got to choose between using ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles or cherries to decorate their leader. At an October 7 assembly, held out back on the blacktop, Principal Hoffman sat in a kiddie pool and let the children do their thing, which resulted in massive squeals of delight. After returning home and taking a shower, Hoffman reported that his hair was “surprisingly silky smooth.”
