Happy Spring Hanby Families and Friends,
It seems hard to believe that we are celebrating spring already! The winter passed by and went out like a LION, just in time for spring break which looked more like winter break. I hope you found time to relax with your family and friends and enjoy a less hectic schedule !
April will be a very busy month for Hanby families. If you stop in the office you will see a collection of wonderful donations that will be a part of our art auction!! Please join us on April 12 from 1-4 and support Hanby programs by purchasing some wonderful arts related items in our auction. The auction is one of the major fund raisers that pays for the outstanding additional enrichment activities that promote integrated learning and community experiences for your children.
In the beginning of May students in grades 3-5 will participate in statewide testing. It is important that you support your children during that time providing opportunities for rest and insuring them of their successes. We want all our students to feel success and know that doing their best is enough!
Student safety is very important to us at Hanby. You can assist us in these efforts by not allowing your children to wait in or near the bank parking lot for pick up after school. We cannot provide supervision in this area and the traffic that moves through the parking lot is not safe for our students. Please follow the drop off and pick up procedures outlined in the handbook to support the school safety initiatives. Also, morning drop off time is 8:50 am. Students dropped off earlier are unsupervised. We can not assure their safety earlier than the scheduled arrival time. Teacher and parent meetings, daily preparations and additional duties do not allow us time for supervision earlier than the 8:50 am time.
As we all experience the many changes that lie ahead for us, know that the strongest support for students is a community of learners that works together to provide the best learning and social experiences for our children. Your efforts, time and positive attitudes are truly what make our school community a special place. May we continue to find that joy of learning together!!
Yours,Jan Fedorenko, Ph.D.
