Greetings to Hanby Families and Friends.
Dear Hanby Families,
What a busy month September has been for the Hanby community! I enjoyed meeting many of you at Curriculum Night, and am impressed by your commitment to the school and to the lives and the education of your child. I am amazed at the active involvement of our parent community and am proud to be a part of Hanby!!!!
Clubs will begin meeting starting in October. You will be contacted by the club leaders with the information about meeting times and dates. Please be sure to mark your calendars as a reminder for both you and your child. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteer parents, once again we have the opportunity to offer a variety of enhancement programs for our students!! I am also looking forward to seeing many of you at PTA activities and meetings where we share our goals and aspirations for the school community.
We are also looking forward to celebrating the 90th Birthday of Hanby as a school. Hanby opened it's doors as a high school in 1923. The school was dedicated as Westerville High School on November 9, 1923 so it is fitting that we celebrate the school on November 9 2013 from 2-4:00 p.m. We are planning to have history books made by students available for a small donation, a time line of Hanby, a then and now building tour and perhaps a visit from Ben Hanby himself!!! Please join us for this fun day.
The safety of your children is extremely important to us. Please note that we do not open the school for students until 8:50 a.m. in order to assure that they will be supervised. Please do not drop your child off at the back entrance unless you see an adult supervising the drop off. If there is a change in transportation for your child, please send a note to the office so that we can assure that your child gets to the correct destination! I understand there may be emergency circumstances when transportation for your child may change at the last minute, but it is preferred that we are contacted in the office about changes before 2:00 p.m when at all possible.
I am continually thankful to be a part of a caring and nurturing school community enriched by the involvement of each and everyone of you and by the joy your children bring to Hanby. It is truly a special place.
Yours,Jan Fedorenko, Ph.D.
